Oracle Cloud services now available to Research Institutions across Austria and Switzerland

Robotron Datenbank-Software GmbH, an international database specialist and IT services provider, now offers Oracle Cloud services through the Open Clouds for Research Environments (OCRE) framework. As a member of Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN), Robotron has many years of experience in consulting and implementing IT infrastructures based on Oracle technologies.

The tender issued by GÉANT gives researchers and the education community across 40 European countries access to commercial cloud services, without the need to run complex public procurements. The framework agreement with Robotron provides universities and research facilities in Austria and Switzerland with the advantages of better performance, higher availability, built-in security and lower cost provided by Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

Christoph Heiming, Senior Director, Alliances and Channels, Oracle Germany, said “There is a strong demand for commercial cloud services in the European research community that has, until now, been limited by the absence of procurement frameworks and the lack of technical skills. We’re delighted that our Cloud Services combined with the expertise of Robotron will help empower the research capabilities of European institutes and universities on their cloud journey.”
