This autumn, the digital platform “The Royal Dresden Porcelain Collection”, developed by Robotron together with TBO Interactive on behalf of the Dresden State Art Collections (SKD), received two prestigious international awards. At both the Cultural Digitization Forum of the World Internet Conference in Xi’an (China) and The Best in Heritage Conference in Barcelona, the project was recognized as a pioneering example of cultural heritage digitization.
Recognition in the “Casebook of Digitalization of Cultural Heritage 2025”
A major milestone was the inclusion of the platform in the renowned “Casebook of Digitalization of Cultural Heritage 2025”, presented at the World Internet Conference: Cultural Digitization Forum on September 16–17 in Xi’an. Out of approximately 200 international submissions, only 40 outstanding projects made it through the rigorous selection process, including the Royal Dresden Porcelain Collection.
The event brought together around 800 participants from more than 50 countries and nine international organizations. It was supported by institutions such as GSMA, CNCERT, CNNIC, Alibaba, Tencent, and the Zhijiang Lab. Our platform from Germany gained significant visibility, particularly in Chinese media and social networks.
Digital Cultural Mediation at an International Level
On this innovative digital platform, The Royal Dresden Porcelain Collection, the Dresden State Art Collections present the complete reference collection of the royal holdings of Augustus the Strong (1670–1733). Around 8,000 East Asian porcelain objects are brought together with extensive archival material.
The international recognition affirms the shared ambition of all partners involved: to create a high-quality digital cultural experience that sets new standards both in art history and in technology.
