ICE International Copyright Enterprise Germany GmbH
Migration to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
ICE International Copyright Enterprise Germany GmbH (ICE) specializes in the licensing and management of music rights and is currently a leader in the field of copyright management.
In order to ensure that rights holders are paid precisely, large amounts of data must be processed, which results in special requirements for the performance, scalability and availability of the underlying hardware. The continuous growth of the business and the associated increase in data exacerbate these challenges even further.
In addition to these basic requirements, an on-premises solution based on Oracle Exadata was previously used. Both the technological development of the application and the change in the platform strategy to cloud-first gave reason to place the hybrid system fully in the OCI the next time the hardware was changed.
Solution:
In view of the challenges described above, various solution scenarios were examined together with ICE and Oracle. Taking the customer's cloud strategy into account, the decision was ultimately made to migrate to the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure ("OCI") and switch to the "Oracle Exadata Database Service on Dedicated Infrastructure".
In close cooperation with ICE International Copyright Enterprise Germany GmbH, Robotron supported the acquisition and migration of the on-premises environment to the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and will continue to be responsible for the smooth operation of the OCI landscape, particularly the load-intensive large databases.
The migration work was carried out step by step and in order to further reduce the complexity of the cloud environment, databases that had become superfluous were decommissioned as part of the project. By switching to a multi-tenant version of robotron*DBACheck, also hosted in the OCI, additional infrastructure on the customer's tenant could be saved.
By migrating to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and thus switching to "Oracle Exadata Database Service on Dedicated Infrastructure", ICE International Copyright Enterprise Germany GmbH benefits from the better performance of a current Oracle Exadata generation and secures the necessary flexibility in the long term to be able to respond quickly to future requirements from the core business.
By simplifying the operational processes and reducing the administrative effort, the data center operating costs in particular were significantly reduced.
