Dr. Torsten Buchwald to Lead AI Topics in the DOAG Database Community

Since February 2026, Dr. Torsten Buchwald has been serving as the new AI Topic Lead within the DOAG Database Community. In this role, he succeeds Cornelia Heyde, who is stepping down after many years of dedicated involvement in the community.

As a mathematician with a PhD, Dr. Buchwald brings extensive experience in higher education and academic teaching. For more than a year, he has also been working as an Oracle trainer at Robotron Datenbank-Software GmbH. His technical expertise and educational background provide a strong foundation for his new responsibilities within DOAG.

In the DOAG Database Community, Dr. Buchwald will contribute both strategically and organizationally. In addition, he will support technical outreach activities through formats such as DB Talks, expert articles, and regular columns.

His first contribution in this new role is already scheduled: At the DB Talk on May 27, 2026, Dr. Buchwald will discuss “Oracle AI Vector Search” and present current developments in the fields of artificial intelligence and database technologies.

As an Oracle trainer, he is also placing a special focus on emerging topics related to the new Oracle Database 26ai release.

Through the close collaboration between Robotron, Oracle, and DOAG, Dr. Buchwald will actively help shape the future development of innovative AI topics within the database community.
