Control throughout the chain: Robotron, Solar Manager and PPC realise solution for § 14a and § 9EEG

Energy

Dresden / Mannheim / Iserhagen, 10 February 2025 - Robotron Datenbank-Software GmbH, Solar Manager and PPC have successfully demonstrated a solution for the digital control of systems. This enables grid operators and other market participants to realise control commands for limiting generation and consumption. The implementation was carried out with existing systems and devices available today, which shows that this complete solution is already available to the broad market.

Control commands were transmitted from the Robotron system to the PPC CLS adapter via the BDEW Web API using CLS.EEDI and forwarded locally to the Solar Manager home energy management system (HEMS) using the EEBUS protocol. This enabled the complete control chain to be verified in accordance with the requirements of §14a EnWG and §9 EEG.

This solution closes an essential gap between grid operators, market players and end consumers. It enables the continuous and bidirectional control of generation and consumption units. Furthermore, this end-to-end solution optimises the grid integration of prosumers and promotes their market integration. As a solution that is already available today, this metering point operator offers all the tools for planning security and the basis for a successful smart grid rollout.

Kathrin Rust, Managing Director of Solar Manager GmbH, explains: "The implementation via EEBUS enables us to precisely execute digital control commands and reliably forward feedback to our partners. This proves that the requirements of Section 14a EnWG and Section 9 EEG are technically feasible today and offers grid operators and market participants a future-proof solution."

With the CLS adapter, PPC supplied the secure link between the backend systems and the customer system. Robotron supplied the system landscape including the BDEW Web API and CLS.EEDI as the communication protocol. At the end point of the chain, Solar Manager ensures the local control of the system via EEBUS and the correct feedback of the switching commands to the partners in the system landscape. This ensures stepless and bidirectional control.

"The project impressively demonstrates that the regulatory requirements have already been met and marketable solutions are available," says Karen Schmid, Team Leader CLS Products. "Anyone who wants to implement control can get started today."

Further information and a live demonstrator of the end-to-end solution will be presented at E-World at the PPC stand (Hall 3, Stand 3H102) and at the Robotron stand (Hall 3, J116).
