SMGW-forwards

Real-world laboratory for the further development of the Smart meter gateway infrastructure

Project Overview

Robotron is part of the three-year innovation project "SMGW -forwards" to accelerate the digitalization of the energy transition. The aim of the project is the further development of the smart meter gateway functionalities and the surrounding systems and processes towards an extended smart metering system (iMSys) according to the BMWK/BSI stage model.

In coorperation with the five project partners PPC (SMGW manufacturer), TEAG (regional utility), Thüringer Mess- und Zählerwesen (executing MSB), and e.kundenservice Netz (MSB and customer service) 10 energy use cases (EAF) are processed and prototypically further developed .
The focus is on the comprehensive functional development of the focus clusters Smart Grid, Smart Mobility and Smart & Sub Metering.

In the project, Robotron will provide its GWA and EMT software and will contribute its expertise mainly for the design and prototypical implementation of the backend functionalities. This includes numerous novel processes and (market) interfaces and enables the evaluation of the potential of the new iMSys infrastructure and related opportunities for innovative value-added services.

The project start was in January 2022 and the duration is 3 years.
